PREP Parent Handbook, 2017-18Parish Religious Education Program (PREP)

PREP Mission Statement
We, the St. John Fisher Parish Religious Education Program (PREP), are committed to the religious education of our children. Our program strives to foster faith formation through teaching the message of Jesus Christ, celebration of the Sacraments, family involvement and community service. We encourage our children to bring the love of Jesus into their daily lives and to become stewards of our Catholic faith.

About our Parish Religious Education Program(PREP)

St. John Fisher Parish is pleased to offer a Faith Formation for Children program to assist families in the religious education of their children. The program is open to young parishioners in Preschool (3, 4, 5 years old) and Grades 1 to 6 who attend public or non-Catholic private schools.

How do I register?  Families who wish to enroll their child(ren) in PREP can access the registration below on the New Registration tab. Families are asked fill out and return the completed form to the Director of Faith Formation office, along with the registration fee. If a child was baptized at a church other than St. John Fisher, Holy Saviour or Immaculate Conception, a copy of the child’s baptismal certificate should accompany the registration form.

When are classes held?  Faith Formation classes are held on Tuesday afternoons (Grades 1-5); Tuesday evenings (Grades 1-5); Wednesday afternoons (Grades 1-5); Wednesday evenings (Grade 6 – Confirmation class) and Sunday morning Guardian Angels Club (3, 4, 5 year olds). Classes begin the first week of September and run through the first week of May.

Do we get to pick which day/time we want?  All families can select their preferred day/time. All preferences will be honored when possible.

What is expected of the parents /guardians?  PREP exists to support parents/guardians in their primary role as teachers of the faith. It is expected that families encourage and support the student’s learning, assist with homework assignments, and model prayer and participation in the Sacramental life of the parish community. Families are asked to assist as volunteers in the Faith Formation program during the course of the year.

Classes will resume September 5, 2017.
