Pilgrimage to Washington, D.C. Shrines

St. John Fisher Parish has organized a bus trip to visit the two national shrines in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, July 17.  The first stop will be the Shrine of St. John Paul II, which houses a permanent exhibit about the life and ministry of this popular pope.  There will be an opportunity for Reconciliation, prayer before a first-class relic, and Mass at noon.  The second stop is the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, the largest Catholic Church in the U.S.  Lunch at your own expense in the cafeteria before we take a guided tour of the Basilica.  The charted coach bus will leave St. John Fisher parking lot at 8 a.m., and will return to Boothwyn around 6 p.m.  The cost is $45 for adults and $25 for children under 14.  Call the Parish Office at 610-485-0441, ext.  to reserve a seat! 

Congratulations to the 2018 First Eucharist Class!

On Saturday, May 12, 36 children from the parish received Jesus through the Holy Eucharist for the first time.  Congratulations to these children and their families!  We rejoice with them at this precious time, and ask God to continue to bless them!


Holy Week

Please join us during the solemn celebrations of Holy Week:  Mass of the Lord's Supper, Thursday (3/29) at 7:00pm, with Eucharistic Adoration following until 10pm.  Good Friday (3/30) Veneration of the Cross, Passion and Communion at 3:00pm in the church; Poor Person's Supper at 5:45 in the Parish Center Hall; Stations of the Cross at 7:00pm in the Church.  The Easter Vigil Mass, Saturday (3/31) will begin at 7:30pm, outdoors if weather permits.  Easter Sunday Masses will be at 8, 9:30 and 11:30am. 

Please note:  The Parish Business Office will be closed on Good Friday (3/30) and Easter Monday (4/2).  The office will reopen on Tuesday at 8:30am.

No PREP Classes March 20-21

Bad weather has hit our region again!  Due to the poor conditions on Tuesday, March 20, and the forecast for heavy snow on Wednesday, March 21, PREP classes have been cancelled for this week.  Classes will resume on April 3 and 4, after Easter.  Please stay safe! 

PREP Classes Cancelled on March 7

Due to the forecast snowstorm on March 7, PREP classes on Wednesday afternoon and evening have been cancelled.  We do expect to hold the First Eucharist class retreat on Sunday, March 11, beginning with attendance at the 11:30 a.m. Mass.  Please be safe this week!

Parish Penance Service

Don't Forget!  The Parish Penance Service is scheduled for Monday, March 12, at 7:00 p.m. in the Church.  Several priests will be on hand to hear Confession.  If you can't make it on Monday, Father McDermott hears Confession on Saturday afternoon from 3:00 - 3:45 p.m., prior to the 4 p.m. Mass, or by appointment. 

Beef and Beer Tickets on Sale Now!

MAKE PLANS TO ATTEND THE ST. DURING LENT -- A six week series for Adults will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evenings beginning February 15.  "Conversion: Following the Call of Christ," featuring Bishop Robert Barron on DVD, will showcase six stories of conversion from the Gospels.  In his energetic style, Bishop Barron explains how conversion is not just a one-time event, but a life-long process.  Following the video, we will have a guided discussion to encourage a deeper understanding and reflection of the evening's presentation.  Please join us in the Parish Center. 

THE STATIONS OF THE CROSS will be held each Friday of Len at 7:00 p.m., beginning on February 16, in the Church. We hope you will join us for this solemn prayer.   


Upcoming Events

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK begins January 28!  Holy Family Regional School is holding an Open House on Sunday, January 28, from 10 a.m. until noon.   Please stop by the school at 3265 Concord Road, Aston, to check out the fun creative and educational projects the children have been working on!  

AMERICAN RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE:  The spring blood drive at St. John Fisher is scheduled for Monday, February 5, from 2 - 7 p.m.   To register for a time to give blood, please sign up in the Church Hall after Mass on Sunday or contact Mary Lou, 610-485-3292. 

 SAVE THE DATE:  The Art of Silhouette - a Family Fun Night at St. John Fisher Parish, Friday, February 9, 6:30 -8:30 p.m., in the Parish Center.  Create a silhouette of your child, then help them accent their individuality, person interests and faith with a collage technique.  A donation of $5 for each adult and $2 per child for refreshments and supplies is suggested.

ASH WEDNESDAY is February 14, 2018, on the Feast of St. Valentine.  Masses at St. John Fisher will be held at 9:00 a.m., 4:30 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. in the Church.  There will be no 7:30 a.m. Mass in the Chapel on Ash Wednesday.  While not a Holy Day of Obligation, all are encouraged to attend Mass and receive ashes as a symbol of our humanity during this season of prayer, penance, sacrifice and good works. 

FIRST RECONCILIATION 2018:  The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be administered on Monday, January 29, at 7pm. All candidates and their families are asked to be in church by 6:45pm.

PREP Classes will be held Jan. 9

Both session of PREP Classes will be held on Jan. 9.  The parking lot and sidewalks have been cleared and salted, and the sunshine and wind today have dried much of the paved surfaces around the buildings.  Please plan to have your children here on time.  Thank you!
